Hot Apple Cider
Hot Apple Cider: Words to Stir the Heart and Warm the Soul is a 296-page collection of personal experience articles, short stories and poems. While there are similarities to the popular
Chicken Soup for the Soul series, this book conveys a uniquely Canadian character and content, with a variety of stories from the light-hearted and humorous to those dealing with serious real-life issues such as the death of a child, cancer, infertility, loneliness and family conflicts.
All contributing authors are professional members of The Word Guild, an association of more than 325 Canadians who write from a Christian faith perspective. They represent more than 20 Christian denominations.
“Whether you sip Hot Apple Cider slowly, one story at a time, or drink deeply and read it all in one sitting, these stories of fun, faith, and fellowship by gifted Canadian writers will warm your heart.”
--- Dave Toycen, President and CEO, World Vision Canada
“Imagine a group of Canadians circled around a campfire. They have two things in common: they’re serious Christians and committed writers. ‘Let me tell you my conversion story,’ calls our Deborah Gyapong. Keith Clemons reads a short story and Brian Austin recites an original poem. Grace Fox shares a devotional piece. As the fire crackles and they sip their cider, all 30 speak from their hearts. That’s the concept of Hot Apple Cider – and it’s a good one.
--- Cecil Murphey, author of the New York Times bestseller 90 Minutes in Heaven
Moving From Fear to Freedom

Fear has two sides - an upside and a downside. The downside is that it can hold women hostage, robbing us of joy and preventing us from experiencing life as God intended. But the upside....that's a different story. The very fears we face can become catalysts for personal growth and opportunities to know the Lord in a more intimate way. Filled with real-life stories and loaded with Scripture, this book promises to lead its readers from fear to freedom. With wit, warmth, and wisdom, Grace helps you to:
- Overcome the fear for your kids’ well-being to embrace God’s purpose for their lives.
- Rise above the fear of inadequacy to accept new opportunities at work or church.
- Overcome the fear of rejection to pursue new friendships or mentor younger women.
I've posted the
introduction and endorsements to whet your appetite.
Here’s an example of what readers are saying about this book:
“Moving from Fear to Freedom is one of those books that gives you “ants in your pants” while you read. It was hard not to run and pick up the phone to share the insights with a friend. I was constantly distracted with thoughts of the positive impact Grace’s book would make to women’s ministry. Each chapter revealed new strategies for women to move from fear-based paralysis into God’s incredible peace-promised will. Empowering, insightful and relevant! I can hardly wait to pass a copy of this book along knowing that once I’ve done so, I can settle into reclaiming the pages for my own spiritual growth. Impossible not to get excited!”
--- Tami W.
“Your book, Moving From Fear to Freedom, has changed my life. Fear was almost incapacitating me, but is no longer something I struggle with. Long story short, I feared every move my kids made. I'm grateful for your faithfulness to write the words in that book and show me how to release to the Lord in a way I was 'fearful' of doing.”
--– Samantha P.
“Moving From Fear to Freedom was a great study for our ladies’ group. It was relevant to all who attended, and participants rarely missed a week! As we moved through the book, we learned to give our issues to God and to rely on His faithfulness. If you’re looking for an easy-to-read study book, this is it. Our women now have confidence that Jesus is greater than any fear we have and can conquer it if we give it to Him.”
--- Robin S. - women’s ministry leader, AB

What are readers saying about this family devotional?
“Our two children, ages 9 and 7, have become enthused about bedtime because of the stories and scriptures from your book that are speaking to their hearts. Our thanks for such relevant and interesting topics that have blessed us with great discussion and prayer time.”
--- Tracy S.
“When I interviewed you for that book a few months ago, I had no idea how it would impact my own life. I have a grandson who visits frequently. Each time he’s here, I read one of the stories to him and then use the discussion questions to talk about what we’ve read. I used to read the Scripture to him but that put him to sleep. Now he can hardly wait to read the devotionals and talk about what he’s learning.”

What are readers saying about this book?
“10-Minute Time Outs for Busy Women was given to me as a gift from my secret sister at church. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! And thank the good Lord for blessing you with the gift to write. I am a wife and stay-at-home mom of 4 boys (ages 2 to 9 years) and sometimes I have a difficult time making time for the Lord. Your book came at just the right time because I was feeling like I had come to the end of my rope and your devotional helped me to tie a knot at the end of that rope and hang on. So, thanks again and please keep sharing your gift with others - it is a blessing!!”

NEW! A fun resource for parents with young children!

Hey parents! Do you want to end the day on a happy note with your preschooler? Want to turn bedtime routines into memory-making moments?
Tuck-Me-In will help you accomplish that goal.
Each packet comes with 90 questions to stimulate your child's imagination and generate conversation. Download the PDF file and print it on cardstock. Cut the cards along the lines and place them in a resealable plastic bag. Tuck the packet under your child's pillow or on a nightstand. At bedtime, ask him/her to select one card. Read it together, and then listen to your child’s response.
You'll share a few laughs. You'll gain insights into your child's mind. And you'll build a loving bond with your precious little person.
Our youngest will soon be 21 years old. Seventeen years have passed since we did this with her, but we still remember the excitement on her face and in her voice when bedtime rolled around. "I want this card," she'd say, pulling her choice from the bag. "What does it say?"
My prayer is that your youngster will enjoy
Tuck-Me-In as much as our daughter did. By the way, you might want to keep a pen and paper handy to record your child's answers. Kids say the cutest things!
Sample Questions:
