On to the next IM couple – Jeff and Andrea O’Connell. What a precious couple! Jeff has been teaching kids’ Bible clubs in orphanages, and Andrea has a degree in counseling but has chosen to stay home with her little boys for now rather than pursue a career. IM is blessed to have such godly people loaded with wisdom. My heart was encouraged by their faithfulness and transparent sharing.

They’d asked me to bring brown sugar from North America. Funny how we take simple things like brown sugar for granted. In Europe, it’s quite coarse. When a bag of fine sugar can be found, it’s usually hard as rock. Bake on, Andrea!

We spent the evening with Kristen, our hostess for our time in Kosice. She’s in her early 20s and learning the ropes of living in a different culture. I couldn’t help but feel some motherly instinct when I spoke with her. After all, she’s the same age as my daughters. She’s had to figure out the public transportation system, buy groceries, do her banking, and learn how to do all the other routine things of life in a different culture, and in a language she doesn’t yet understand. ‘Way to go, Kristen! And ‘way to go, Kristen’s mom and dad – you’ve raised a girl with wings to fly!
