Sharing My Gratitude List for 2023
Happy New Year! Like me, do you feel as though the year whizzed by? As the year draws to a close, I’m reflecting on the many things for which I’m grateful.
Happy New Year! Like me, do you feel as though the year whizzed by? As the year draws to a close, I’m reflecting on the many things for which I’m grateful.
I rarely step into a hot shower without whispering, “Thank You.” That said, I know I fail to express my gratitude to God as often as I might.
On a trip to Kathmandu, a friend and I encountered splashes of beauty amidst the mess as we walked down a narrow dirt lane in a residential neighborhood.
As the birds sing this morning, a song pops into my mind. I recall the lyrics, and they encourage me to focus not on my concerns but on my blessings instead.
If we train our minds on gratitude, our brain responds by releasing hormones related to pleasure and contentment. Our day assumes a tone of joy.
His intent toward us is always good and never meant to harm or destroy. We find rest for our souls when we rest in Jesus.
Let’s put our hope in God’s word. He vowed to never forsake us. He promised to be our refuge, our guide, our wisdom, and our provider
Waiting can either drive us crazy or become a rich experience that draws us into a deeper, sweeter walk with the Lord. We’re in control of the outcome.
Only God is in control, and He knows best how to sort things out for our good and His glory. Let’s leave the pen in His hands.
Only God knows what the new year holds. For us, it’s a huge uncertainty. But one thing we know for sure, we can experience peace because Jesus said so.
Envy is a trap. Freedom comes when we focus not on what others have but on the riches that belong to us when we belong to God.
Our human tendency is to lose patience and say or do something we regret. Instead, make a list of three things which you can be thankful in the midst of them.
God is good not only when life is good. He’s good all the time. Even when life stinks. Even when the furnace dies in winter.
There’s the feeling of being held hostage by circumstances beyond our control. But I choose, by God’s strength, to give thanks in the midst of it.
We, too, can worship the Beloved with a kiss, figuratively speaking. We can breathe words of prayer to thank Him for keeping His promises.
Telling our faith stories to the younger generations is vital so that they might open their hearts to the Lord and learn to love, obey, and trust Him.
Giving thanks shifts our focus from our circumstances to the God who rules over them. It sets our mind to rest and frees us to see what God does on our behalf.
Loving relationships, comfortable circumstances, and possessions are gifts meant to be enjoyed, but not meant to become our security and satisfaction in life.
If anyone has reason to grumble and complain, God does, especially when He looks upon mankind and the manner in which we treat Him. And yet He refrains.
If God is who He says He is, and if His promises are true, and if He never fails to fulfill them – why do we worry or assume the worst?
When circumstances deviate from the path I’d choose, I find consolation in three little words: “God’s got this.” He’s in control of every detail of our lives,
Do you ever experience days when your heart feels full to overflowing with gratitude to God? I hope so! Today is one of those days for me.
How I’d love to grow old maintaining his attitude about gratitude. And I can. By remembering his words: “You know–thankfulness is really a choice, isn’t it?
I’m really enjoying this practice. It’s opening my eyes to see how truly blessed I am, and it’s helping me walk in obedience to God’s command.
Life gives us countless reasons to be discontent. But the Lord’s promises and His presence in our lives give us every reason to turn it around.
Oh, how easy it is to focus on negative stuff: We regurgitate conversations that irked us. We worry about the “what-ifs.” We get stuck in “if-only.”
I will choose instead to praise God with my whole heart. I will focus my eyes not on my circumstances but on His strength, and I will walk out the Truth
“This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it,” says Psalm 118:24. These words are more than the lyrics to a lilting worship chorus.
I wish all my readers the ability to recognize the blessings they experience on daily and to express gratitude to the One from whom all blessings flow.
Giving thanks doesn’t come naturally to most people. That’s why God repeats His command over and over. He wants us to “get” it because He knows its value to us.
When we fail to connect the gift with the Giver, we basically take the credit for the good things we experience. But a thankful heart recognizes God’s goodness.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change (James 1:17)
A stranger’s undeserved kindness to me at Starbucks reminded me of God’s undeserved love and mercy to me and to all mankind.
I suggest we make thanksgiving an attitude for 365 days each year. Imagine the Father’s joy in hearing His children express gratitude as a way of life!
Faith stories make a difference. Let’s take advantage of their influence. Let’s stoke the fire of the next generation’s faith by recalling God’s goodness to us.
God’s word tells us to give thanks in everything. And after returning to Nepal, I realize afresh how easy that should be for me.
