When is it Good to Look Back?
Looking back has its place and benefits. Spend a few minutes recalling one of God’s kindnesses toward you, one answered prayer, one act of provision.

“I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” These were the last words Jesus spoke, the last promise He made before His physical departure.
My word is “listen.” It’s not the word I wanted. I tried to ignore it. But “listen” kept popping up, sometimes several times a day, and I finally surrendered.
Only God knows what the new year holds. For us, it’s a huge uncertainty. But one thing we know for sure, we can experience peace because Jesus said so.
If you’re finding this season difficult, know that you’re not alone. Also know that Jesus opens His arms wide and invites you to nestle close to His heart.
Perhaps your nighttime thoughts wander down the path of worry or fear. Maybe they take you to painful memories. If so, choose to refuse to linger there.
If I’ve invited Him to be the Lord over every part of me, He has the right to steer me in the direction He wants to accomplish His purposes in and through me.
Life’s hard places are often where we best experience revelations, so enter with courage and expectancy knowing God wants to deepen our friendship with Him.
Where we fix our focus determines our destiny. Turn your eyes from worthless things. Focus on Jesus, and you’ll discover the abundant life He intended for you.
Our thoughts about God the Father matter. If they’re not based on truth, we develop a skewed understanding of who He is and His role in our lives.
Keep your ears tuned to God’s voice. Listen for His promises and do what He says. Keep your focus on Him, and you will know a peace that cannot be manufactured.
Let’s ask God to open our eyes to the wonders He’s created. Let’s stand in awe of who He is and marvel that He loves us and wants a relationship with us.
If we truly want to overcome a self-defeating habit or habitual sin, then banishing inaccurate thinking and replacing it with truth is key.
Why does God wait until 11:59 when the situation looks hopeless? I suspect He waits because He wants us to experience His amazing power.
Psalm 54:4 offers a simple but profound truth packed with hope for whatever pain or uncertainty we face today. It says, “But God is my helper.”
The good news is ~ confessing our sin changes everything for us. God takes it away. He doesn’t just hide it somewhere else. He removes it from us.
2,000 years after He walked the earth, Jesus is considered the greatest Teacher. It makes sense to look to Him and His teachings to learn how to live well.
Fasting draws us into deeper intimacy with our Lord. If we want to make the most of it, then let’s know why we’re fasting and be specific in our prayers.
We run into trouble when we let our focus linger where it shouldn’t, so the moment we’re aware of our lapse, we need to put it back on Jesus.
It’s easy to love, honor, respect, and serve others who think like we do. But it’s not so easy when we’re tired or with people who differ from us.
Our faith is complete, in part, when we love our enemies and pray for people who’ve wronged us. When we do so, Jesus says we’re children of God.
God is the ultimate parent who has ultimate authority. I just need to align my heart, mind, and soul with God’s plan and God’s way ~ not my own.
It’s important to fix my mind on Him and ensure my thoughts about Him are based on truth. The moment they go elsewhere, doubts roll in and drown me.
This God whose strength supersedes anything we can imagine is the same God who holds us in His hand. He cradles us when we’re lonely or afraid or discouraged.
Life takes unexpected turns. Sometimes we have no answers. But we always have a Comforter. And in Him we always find hope.
No matter what valleys we walk through, God Almighty walks with us. His kindness provides comfort. Peace is ours when we remember Whose hand holds us.
Knowing to Whom we belong and understanding His purpose for us frees us from insecurity and pride. We feel no need to portray an image meant to impress.
Scripture tells us to “keep our focus on Jesus”. Losing that makes everything go wonky, but keeping it helps us
maintain spiritual equilibrium.
Envy is a trap. Freedom comes when we focus not on what others have but on the riches that belong to us when we belong to God.
Consider this strategy when someone’s hurt you deeply: pray for them. Doing so is akin to donning protective armor against anger, bitterness, and unforgiveness.
Our human tendency is to lose patience and say or do something we regret. Instead, make a list of three things which you can be thankful in the midst of them.
You’re not fighting your battle alone. You’re surrounded by a personal cheering squad whose victories prove you can persevere and win, too.
Every hardship we experience is part of the pruning and honing necessary to prepare us. They also make us more like Jesus no matter what our destiny is.
The more consistently our gaze lingers on Jesus, the more our expression reflects His peace and kindness. And that’s what we want, right?
If you don’t already practice hospitality, I encourage you to do so. And, keep it simple. The more complicated we make it, the less likely we are to do it
We don’t see the big picture God is painting, but we have to trust He’s doing something that’s ultimately going to be good.
