For several years, I’ve enjoyed the New Year’s practice of choosing one word on which to focus for twelve months. This year, my word is “walk.”

We all know how busy life can be. Busyness can be productive, but it can also hinder us from experiencing the beauty and benefits of silence.
I would benefit by investing time and energy into learning about Makana’s operating systems. I just need to do it. The same is true for spiritual disciplines.
Fasting draws us into deeper intimacy with our Lord. If we want to make the most of it, then let’s know why we’re fasting and be specific in our prayers.
Everything flows from my friendship with the Lord. If I shelf His Word and my alone time with Him for a month, my spiritual well-being will take a hit.
Greater intimacy with the Lord—the One who gave His all for me – is my goal. And that’s why I maintain spiritual disciplines.
God rules over all, and yet He knows my name and longs for relationship with me. Is growing that relationship worth the effort? Absolutely!
