Storms will come and go. God’s promises help us navigate the wind and waves to a safe harbor. We can trust Him and not be afraid.
Today’s blog is an excerpt from my book, Keeping Hope Alive: Devotions for Strength in the Storm. May it encourage you when you’re at a loss about how to pray.
God has purposes yet unseen for our lives, too. Every one of the hardships we experience are part of the pruning and honing necessary to prepare us.
In the wake of all the negative stuff happening, I want to suggest doing something to keep hope alive: host a celebration.
And then He speaks words that infuse hope: “This is a painful process, but I am at work. Trust Me. Plant the seed, and a joyful harvest will come.”
Disclosing our struggles to a trusted godly friend can help ease the burden we carry. Knowing we’re not alone brings the encouragement needed to persevere.
May God grant us spiritual eyes to see suffering through His eyes and to respond in a way that both draws us into deeper intimacy with Him and brings Him glory.
Those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ for salvation, that strength is found in the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit.
God sees our circumstances and hears our cries. We are not alone–ever. He loves us, honours us, and considers us precious.
It’s easy to feel anxious. But in the midst of it all, God plops Scriptures into my path to remind me I’m not dealing with this alone. I love when He does that.
Giving thanks when life’s easy is well, easy. Doing it when life hurts is another thing. That’s when expressing gratitude is most important.
It amazes me how different people can look at the same situation and come away with completely different perspectives.
I don’t understand God’s methods sometimes. They leave me scratching my head. And yet, I need to trust that He is in control, and He’s a lot smarter than I am.
Daniel asked a question to gain a better understanding of the situation and then took deliberate action to save many lives.
Jesus alone grants us true peace in the midst of chaos. Granted, there are specific steps we can take to promote peace in our lives, but He is the foundation.
While it’s easy for me to analyze Elijah’s situation and say what he should or should not have done, I believe there are some good principles to learn from him.
Sometimes life takes us to a place where we feel dry and bone weary. Thankfully we needn’t dwell there; God meets us there and breathes fresh life into us.
No matter how dire our circumstances appear or how God-forsaken we feel, we can hang onto this assurance: God still loves us
