Understanding the Names of God: El Emunah
God never makes a promise He cannot keep. We can count on Him to keep His word because His faithfulness is rooted in His character, and He never lies.

Ruach Elohim meets us where we are. He doesn’t wait for us to get it together first. He comes near in the middle of our mess, our questions, and our conflicts.
We can go through the motions of faith without yielding control. But when we acknowledge God as Adonai, faith moves from routine to relationship.
The weather changes. Our circumstances change. Our health and relationships and finances can change. But Yahweh Tsuri remains steadfast and reliable.
You may have experienced or witnessed events for which there was no human explanation, and seeing it unfold bolstered your faith.
The more we understand God’s character, the better able we are to trust Him. Learning to trust God more fully gives us courage to face the fear giant.
Life has a way of dimming our sparkle, sometimes suddenly, sometimes slowly. If your inner light feels faint, pause and ask the Holy Spirit to show you why.
God Himself will keep us in perfect peace when our minds remain steadfast on Him. This isn’t a fleeting calm based on circumstances. It’s deep, enduring peace.
God’s truth produced the breakthrough I needed. Focusing on my fears had strengthened their choke-hold on my life, and I chose to do things differently.
God’s promises address our deepest needs. Living from their truth moves our souls from a place of angst and pain to a place of inner peace amid outer conflict.
I had no physical address, no email, and no phone number, but God saw me in my weary and discouraged state, and He met me there.
Hold onto these three promises because they will bring you hope: Jesus will give you rest. He will be with you. He will come for you someday.
We all need hope in the face of hard times. Our mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being depends on it. So where do we find it?
Fixing our heart on God leads us to a safe place, a place where peace and clarity reign, a place where we find calm in chaos.
We are finite beings so we often view our circumstances on a finite timeline. The clock ticks, and we grow anxious. We begin to doubt whether God hears us.
Give the Lord your five small barley loaves and two small fish. There’s no telling what He might do with them, for little is much in God’s hands.
We can’t begin to understand His purposes for our pain, but we can rest assured that He is doing something good in His eternal plan.
Storms will come and go. God’s promises help us navigate the wind and waves to a safe harbor. We can trust Him and not be afraid.
Today’s blog is an excerpt from my book, Keeping Hope Alive: Devotions for Strength in the Storm. May it encourage you when you’re at a loss about how to pray.
God has purposes yet unseen for our lives, too. Every one of the hardships we experience are part of the pruning and honing necessary to prepare us.
How do we respond to suffering? Do we get angry or fall into self-pity? Or do we allow God to use our pain to refine us and make us more like Jesus?
Trusting God means yielding our desire for control to the One who is in control. It means admitting our understanding of a troubling situation is incomplete.
God cares deeply about what concerns me and you, and he invites us to come to his throne room anytime day or night. We needn’t fear interrupting him.
I pray that today’s post will encourage and inspire you. It’s an excerpt from my devotional book Finding Hope in Crisis: Devotions for Calm in Chaos.
Crisis changes life in a nanosecond. It can rob us of routine, ruin our ability to sleep well, and remove our capability to think straight.
God is good not only when life is good. He’s good all the time. Even when life stinks. Even when the furnace dies in winter.
Our beliefs turn us to God for help and to trust that He knows our concerns and hears our cries. We pray in faith believing His answer is the best answer.
Let’s commit to viewing the unforeseen through God’s eyes. Let’s embrace whatever He brings and seek to partner with Him to accomplish His purposes.
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it,” says Psalm 118:24. These words resonate with us some days more than others. Do you agree?
We can create a fiasco if we plunge into our plans without first consulting the Expert and giving Him the freedom to do with them whatever He knows is best.
Joseph acknowledged his powerlessness and trusted God for the words to say. Three little words spoken in faith-“but God will”-moved him from prison to palace.
Our body shapes differ. Our personalities differ. Our interests and giftedness differ. Our heavenly Father, who creates miracles of beauty, makes no mistakes.
Jesus, Prince of Peace, came into our world so He could live in us. His power at work within us ought to help us worship, rather than worry.
Even though I wrote a book about moving beyond fear, I still struggle with it occasionally. Thankfully, it doesn’t consume or paralyze me anymore.
Discouragement and fear affect different people in different ways. Regardless, God’s given us a weapon to break its grip. That weapon is praise.
Healthy communication is key to a healthy marriage. It’s also key to a vibrant relationship with Jesus. Let’s be intentional to keep both relationships strong.
