Four days ago I walked on the Great Wall of China. It’s an amazing feat of human engineering considering modern-day machinery and technology didn’t exist when it was built. I now understand why construction spanned more than 800 years and claimed more than a million lives. And all for the sake of protecting the land from invading armies.

The Wall leaves millions of tourists in awe every year, myself included. But let’s put things into perspective: Man didn’t create this structure on his own. Ultimately, God created man with the know-how and ability to build it.

How much more, then, should we stand in awe of God and His wisdom and power?

Read these Scriptures and then meditate on them for a few minutes.

May the truth about God’s greatness resonate with our hearts and minds. May it transform thoughts tainted by fear and doubt. And may it move us to rest as we learn to trust our lives and loved ones into the care of the One who is all-wise and all-powerful.

12Who else has held the oceans in his hand? Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers? Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale?

13Who is able to advise the Spirit of the LORD? Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him?

15All the nations of the world are but a drop in the bucket. They are nothing more than dust on the scales. He picks up the whole earth as though it was a grain of sand.

16All the wood in Lebanon’s forest and all Lebanon’s animals would not be enough to make a burnt offering worthy of our God. (Isaiah 40:12-13,15-16)

Know you are loved,

Grace
