Be Encouraged – God Holds Your Hand
My sinful nature sometimes urges me to yank my hand from His, but doing so would be foolish. I need to learn to rest in His care and attention to my well-being.
When my kids were preschoolers, I often took them for walks around the neighborhood. At that time, our house was located on a road with a 50 mph speed limit. Cars, trucks, motorbikes, and school buses sped past all day.
There literally was no safe place to walk on our side of the road. The only option was to cross it so we could stroll down a quiet residential cul-de-sac.
I always, always held my kids’ hands while crossing, and I didn’t let go until we’d walked a safe distance. They sometimes protested and tried to yank their hand from mine, but I knew better than they did. And I refused to let go.
This morning I read Isaiah 41:13:
“I am holding you by your right hand—I, the LORD your God. And I say to you, ‘Do not be afraid. I am here to help you.’”
The thought of almighty, all-wise God holding my hand brings huge encouragement to me. He absolutely knows what’s best, and He’s looking out for me.

Close your eyes for a few moments and ponder Isaiah 41:13. Use your imagination to picture the Lord, like a loving father, holding your hand as you walk together along life’s way. Thank Him for His presence and His promise to help you with whatever concerns you. And thank Him that He always knows best.
