Be Intentional to Finish Well (Guest Post)
We need to be intentional and likely make some changes if we want to someday hear God’s “Well done, good and faithful servant.” What can we do to finish well?

Our understanding about difficult people and situations is more-often- than-not faulty. It’s influenced by a number of different things including our emotions.
Taking delight in honoring others is a principle our world seems to have forgotten. And it begins at home with the little things – like saying thank you.
Have you said yes impulsively to albeit good opportunities without asking God for His direction first only to fail to follow through?
Proverbs 19:21 says, “You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.” This is why its important to talk with God before making decisions.
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it,” says Psalm 118:24. These words resonate with us some days more than others. Do you agree?
We can create a fiasco if we plunge into our plans without first consulting the Expert and giving Him the freedom to do with them whatever He knows is best.
As we tune our ear to hear His voice of truth, we’ll grow more adept at recognizing the lies and tuning out the naysayer.
I’ll always remember the voice on the phone that day: “Why do you bother doing what you do?” Thankfully God used that incident as a pivot-point for me.
We might be successful at concealing secret behaviors from people, but we’ll never hide them from the Lord. How easily we forget this truth.
Can I picture God smiling over this choice? This is a question we can ask ourselves when we allow negative thoughts to linger in our minds.
If anyone has reason to grumble and complain, God does, especially when He looks upon mankind and the manner in which we treat Him. And yet He refrains.
Jesus knows the answer to every question with which we wrestle. Let’s seek Him first before making a regrettable blunder.
When we follow our own path, we doubt His integrity and intent. We end up striving to make things happen the way we want. Ultimately, we lose our peace.
If God is who He says He is, and if His promises are true, and if He never fails to fulfill them – why do we worry or assume the worst?
Following Jesus means we’re never on our own. He promises never to leave us or forsake us. He’s with us at all times and in all places.
What do you believe to be true about God? How has your faith impacted your life when He’s asked you to do something beyond your own ability?
Do we hear God’s words as ho-hum or applicable only to others? Or do we hear His words, listen to what He’s telling us, and respond appropriately?
Satan knows how to attack Christ’s followers and he wants to defeat us but Christ is our hiding place. He surrounds us with songs of victory and unfailing love.
What will friends and family say about you and me when they celebrate us someday? What one descriptive word will pop up repeatedly when they speak about us?
If we truly want to grow deep in our Christian faith, we need to take action. This helps us dismiss any temptation to drift in our relationship with Jesus.
Our thoughts can hinder our potential, our health, and our relationships, but it needn’t be that way. We can enjoy freedom characterized by life and peace.
Sometimes we feel guilty taking time for ourselves. Or we think we dare not lest the world falls apart in our absence. But let’s remember that even God rested.
I trust with ALL my heart, not just the part that I am comfortable giving Him. Acknowledging He is God replaces fear with courage and fills me with joy.
The word all is small and easy to skim over in Mark 12:30, but it can change our entire perspective when we focus on what it means.
About this time each January, North Americans break their New Year’s resolutions to pursue a healthier lifestyle. Applying God’s Word can help you keep yours.
The enemy of our souls doesn’t want us free and joy-filled, so he plants these lies in our minds. Often we don’t recognize their presence until we hit a crisis.
His presence and power change everything. He infuses us with His vision, breathes energy into us as we pursue His kingdom, and brings eternal results for our efforts.
God’s all about exchanging the old for the new, giving second chances, and restoring what was lost or broken. He wants to fill us with hope.
Keep your eyes and ears wide open. Keep your heart open, too, so you can learn everything He wants you to learn during this time.
Let’s ask Jesus to fully possess our minds, our eyes, our hands, our tongues, and our feet and to love others through us.
Intentionally serving others is not always convenient, but when we do as Jesus says simply because we love Him, He will reward us.
Expressing gratitude to the Lord for His faithfulness moves our focus from our problems to His sufficiency to overcome them.
The words we speak carry tremendous impact. They can breed death and discouragement or breath life. They influence our attitudes that influence our behaviors.
The more Christ fills us, we experience strength that’s not our own, peace that passes human understanding, and joy that’s impossible apart from His presence..
How I’d love to grow old maintaining his attitude about gratitude. And I can. By remembering his words: “You know–thankfulness is really a choice, isn’t it?
