Jesus – Our Guide On the Pathway to Peace
Jesus alone grants us true peace in the midst of chaos. Granted, there are specific steps we can take to promote peace in our lives, but He is the foundation.

I long to be at the right place at the right time, recognizing those who need encouragement in some way, and knowing exactly what to say.
How can we muster courage in the face of fear? By remembering that, no matter what happens to us, we are victors because God is the king of our lives.
In January 2008, I flew to Florida and Indiana for two television interviews. In all my life, I’ve never played such a game of “Good News, Bad News.”
“The job description fits you and Grace,” he said. “May I give IM your names?” And so began our adventure into the realm of the impossible.
Scripture tells us to be wise and not start building a house lest we’re unable to complete it, but it also says to walk by faith.
Before peppering Jesus with our wants, let’s thank Him for enduring pain and death on our behalf and for promising us eternal victory through His resurrection.
The task appeared daunting and the supplies seemed ridiculously inadequate. But Jesus didn’t seem to notice. He used what was available and got the job done.
Sometimes I simply don’t know how to pray. That’s when I find confidence in using the Scriptures as my basis for intercession.
“The rest of my prayer that morning became this: Simplify my heart, Lord, to have just one request: To know You and dwell with You intimately.”
Champions one minute. Losers the next. What a ride! How can we prevent or lessen the emotional ups and downs?
Two different orders. One said, “Stand still.” The other said, “Get moving.” Seems like a contradiction, doesn’t it? How do we know when to do what?
Maybe I’m seeing it all wrong. Maybe I’m fulfilling exactly what God intends for today, and I simply need to adjust my perspective.
Our conversation continued on a congenial note for a few minutes, and then we hung up. Two weeks later the same woman sent me an email.
I read these familiar words and screech to a mental halt. A handful of recent irritations and hurts come to mind.
Have you ever wrestled with God’s ways not making sense? Honestly, sometimes I shake my head at how He boggles human logic.
My husband sat at the kitchen table, his head in his hands. “It’s time for a change,” he said. “I’m not interested in doing this any longer.”
As you and I walk faithfully with God day by day, we will leave a legacy not just for one generation but hopefully for several.
I’d rather lavish love long-distance, even if it’s never acknowledged, than risk being misunderstood or used by someone known with a difficult personality.
To say I felt overwhelmed would be an understatement. So what kept me going? Keeping my eyes on the One who is invisible.
The Israelites failed to trust and obey…If only they’d known God’s heart for them. Maybe they would have responded in a different way.
I reveled in the thought of my former fiancé losing a few jewels in his heavenly crown but the thought of my being in the same boat was another story.
How much does God love us? We can’t even begin to count the ways! His devotion to us supersedes anything our minds can comprehend.
Circumstances might not turn out the way we wish, but we don’t need to fret or fear. He knows what’s best for us and how to bring it to pass.
I’ve allowed the negative to rule at times. Believe me, the outcome isn’t pretty. Anger and angst leave my attitude stinkin’ like a heap of smoldering ashes.
Have you felt yourself emotionally, mentally or spiritually slip into a negative space? Have you ever experienced a loss of perspective that led to despair?
He will fulfill – not always according to our understanding – but He will make good on His word. The details are His responsibility; believing Him is ours.
We prayed, reminding God that He’d promised to provide everything necessary for us to do His will. We told Him we believed He had directed us thus far.
I’ve heard much about the importance of believing God’s Word. Now I’ve discovered two gems that solidify my conviction. Here they are, buried in Paul’s prayer.
I hope to have a heart-to-heart with God when I reach heaven because I have a few questions that need answers. Here’s one: What difference does prayer make?
Negative voices can intimidate us, make us feel there’s something wrong with us, or steal our joy for what we believe God has called us to do – if we let them.
Voices that murmur doubts and cause you to query God’s character: “A good God would never allow such painful circumstances. Why devote yourself to Him?
How often does the fear of what others think sway your decisions, words and actions? I recently collided with the fear of man and was forced to make a choice.
I remember when I first sensed God nudging me to write this book. My human logic scoffed: “Who, me? You want me to do what? Are you kidding? I can’t do that.”
In the midst of trials is where we’re called to offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving. Doing so proves we trust God even when we can’t understand His ways.
Another question kids often ask is: “What is God like?” Children aren’t alone in their curiosity. Many grownups – myself included – wonder the same thing.
