When I feel afraid or under spiritual attack, I imagine myself encircled by an impenetrable shield. It covers and keeps me from dangers on every side.
When we’re in the midst of a hard place, we might become focused on our loneliness or pain and forget that God is still actively engaged in our lives.
Spiritual distancing ends the moment we declare it over through our actions and heart attitude. All we have to do is humbly admit our need for God.
Life’s hard places are often where we best experience revelations, so enter with courage and expectancy knowing God wants to deepen our friendship with Him.
Our help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. He stands ready, eager to lend a hand the moment we invite His participation in our circumstances.
My sinful nature sometimes urges me to yank my hand from His, but doing so would be foolish. I need to learn to rest in His care and attention to my well-being.
Knowing I’m on God’s mind gives me confidence to talk with Him about everything. More importantly, it makes me feel loved. Safe. Secure.
I want to live a powerful and fruitful life. Christ has given us everything we need to do this, but the key lies in staying connected to Him moment-by-moment.
Here’s a prayer from St. Patrick—the words calm my heart and help me focus on Christ. Take a few minutes to ponder them, and may they bless you in the same way.
God fights our battles for us. But we play a role in securing victory, too. Our job is to address whatever practical issues we must address.
My two-year-old grandson became frightened, he ran to me and climbed into my lap. There he felt safe because he knew I would protect him.
