How is it Possible to Know God’s Will?
When we face moral decisions, we know God’s word will show us what to do. But when the decision is not of a moral nature, knowing His will isn’t always clear.
People often ask me this question: “How is it possible to know God’s will?”
Perhaps they’re wondering whether or not to take a new job or marry a specific person. Upgrade their education. Sell their home and buy a different one. Go on a short-term missions trip. Adopt. Volunteer in the community.
The list is endless, really.
Knowing His will
When we face moral decisions, we can be sure God’s Word will always show us what to do. But when the decision is not of a moral nature, then knowing His will isn’t always as clear.
Here’s the answer I give:
That’s the strategy my husband and I have used for years when we’ve faced major decisions, and God has never failed to direct us.
Isn’t it good to know that God is our heavenly Father and He’s committed to our well-being? He’ll never mess with our emotions or jerk us around. He promises to guide us when we truly want to do His will.
Our role is to ask Him for direction, maintain an attitude of surrender, and to trust Him to steer or stop us. Because He is faithful, we needn’t be afraid of making a poor decision.
How about you?
How would you answer the question, “How is it possible to know God’s will?”
