Living from the Truth – Jesus Lives in You

Living from the Truth that Jesus Lives in You - Grace Fox

Jesus lives in me. And He lives in you, too, if you’ve placed your faith in Him. Intimacy doesn’t get much better than that!

A spiritual truth that’s becoming ever more real and exciting to me is this: Jesus Christ is a person. He’s not an invisible force out there somewhere in the cosmic universe. He’s the greatest history-maker who ever walked the earth. He lived and died and rose again, and hundreds of eye-witnesses testify to this fact. To know that deep and meaningful relationship with Him is possible nearly blows me away!

Here’s another nugget that leaves me awestruck: When we place our faith in Jesus for salvation, He not only saves us from sin’s penalty and comes alongside to help us navigate life, but He actually lives inside us!

Is that not amazing?

Imagine—Jesus, in the form of the Holy Spirit, moves in and dwells in us. And not just as an occasional visitor but as a permanent resident.

Christ’s indwelling presence changes us, or at least it ought to. It all depends on how much access we give Him to the various rooms of our life.

For instance, denying Jesus access to the kitchen is akin to telling Him that we don’t want His involvement in our eating habits. We’d rather keep our gluttonous routines than allow Him to teach us self-control. However, inviting Him to take up residence there allows Him the opportunity to give us strength to say no to temptation and yes to a healthier body and lifestyle.

Denying Him entry to our family room is like forbidding His involvement in our recreational activities. We’d rather spend our money, time, and energy on activities that please us rather than investing them in activities that make Him smile. But inviting Him in means He can change our sometimes questionable desires to align them with His, and His are always best for us anyway, right?

Christ lives in me

Experiencing intimacy with Christ requires giving Him free access to every part of who we are. Paul explained it this way:

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20 NLT)

If the spiritual truth of Christ living in you seems a little difficult to grasp, then perhaps these exercises will help make it more real:

  • When you first wake, thank Jesus for living His life in you. Then invite Him to write His day’s to-do list on your heart.
  • Before you watch TV or a movie, ask Jesus what He’d like to see.
  • If you’re struggling with a difficult relationship, invite Him to love that person through you.
  • If you’re wrestling with fear for a loved one’s well-being, ask Jesus to help you see their situation through His eyes.

Jesus lives in me. And He lives in you, too, if you’ve placed your faith in Him. Intimacy doesn’t get much better than that!

How about you?

What other simple but transformational exercises can you suggest?

Know you are loved,

  1. Galations 2:20 is an awesome Truth, and reminder of who we are.

It is still amazing to think of how Jesus followed…..obeyed His Father, even unto death……..even the death on the Cross at Calvary, and all in order to redeem us and bring us back to God.

The whole story is truly awesome, and amazing even now…..Oh, what Love!

  2. Yes, we must meditate on His words, talk to him, and learn more of Him.

We have learned some more of him in the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
