Why You Can Do a Victory Dance

Have you ever felt as though someone’s out to “get” you? If so, that’s no surprise. You have an enemy, and he’ll do anything within his power to discourage and destroy you.

Your enemy’s name is Satan, and you’re constantly on his radar. His tactics are sometimes subtle, sometimes more blatant, but they’re always ruthless and focused on one thing—your demise. His desire to take you out means he’ll stop at nothing to achieve his goal.

Today we acknowledge Good Friday—the commemoration of Christ’s crucifixion

It marks the day when Satan did a victory dance. Watching as Jesus took His last breath, he believed he’d won the battle for mankind’s souls, but he was wrong. Imagine his chagrin when, three days later, Christ rose from the dead and fulfilled the prophecy in Genesis 3:15. That is, Jesus crushed Satan’s head and secured victory once for all for those who place their faith in Him for eternal salvation.

“You did your best to kill me, O my enemy, but the LORD helped me,” wrote the psalmist. “The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my victory” (Psalm 118:13-14 NLT).

Satan did his best to kill Jesus, but God Almighty helped Him and won the victory.

Satan will do his best to destroy us, too

But God Almighty is our helper. He’s our strength and song. Because of Christ’s death and resurrection, He is our victory.

Remember this truth, my friend. No matter the battle you’re facing, you have already won. Christ secured your victory over discouragement and fear and doubt and whatever other tactics or weapons the enemy is using against you.

Satan tried to kill Christ but failed miserably. There’s no way he can succeed in his attempts to take us out when Christ lives in us, so celebrate this Easter with joy. Maybe even do a little victory dance in anticipation of how Christ has defeated the enemy in your life.
