We’re More Than Overcomers!

We're More Than Overcomers! - Grace Fox

As Christ’s followers, we don’t barely survive our trials. We overwhelmingly overcome them like David overcame Goliath because of the power of Christ in us.

Imagine a conversation that sounds something like this:

“So, I heard that you’ve faced a few stresses lately. How are you doing?”

“I’m hanging on but only by a thread.”

I’ve felt that way a few times

But I’ve learned that my attitude towards my circumstances bears a huge influence on my ability to deal with them. I’m sure to drown if I routinely entertain thoughts about how difficult my situation is and how I can’t survive the ride and how I can’t cope any longer.

Conversely, I will rise above the negative impact these thoughts could have on me if I train myself to counter fearful thoughts with biblical truths about the character of God and His presence in our lives.

Here’s a God-thought that’s played a significant role in my faith journey:

“…Despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us” (Romans 8:37 NLT).

Challenges to our faith

We all face situations that challenge our faith, but none of those hard times have the ability to sink us.

None. Why?

Because Christ loves us beyond what words can express, and He sits at the Father’s side pleading on our behalf. (Romans 6:37) Victory is ours because Jesus is praying for us according to the Father’s will. With a prayer warrior like Him standing in the gap on our behalf, there’s no way our circumstances can overcome us when we’re doing life as God directs.

We are more than conquerors. No matter what we face, overwhelming victory is ours.

As Christ’s followers, we don’t barely survive the trials we face. We don’t survive them by a hair. Truth is, we overwhelmingly overcome them like David overcame Goliath because of the power of Christ in us.

Action step

Write Romans 8:37 on a recipe card and post it where you’ll see it often. Every time the enemy tries to discourage you, remind him of the truth and then walk in the victory that’s yours!

Enjoy one of my favourite songs by Mandisa.

Know you are loved,

Grace
