One Woman’s Story of Ashes to Beauty
I stand back and look at God’s fingerprints on Beckie’s life, and I’m in awe. Read her story and find hope for your own situation. Be encouraged, my friend.

Giving thanks doesn’t come naturally to most people. That’s why God repeats His command over and over. He wants us to “get” it because He knows its value to us.
I grew up praying specifically so I could see God answer in specific ways. But perhaps my so-called specific prayers are my way of telling God what to do.
The enemy may be trying to defeat you through difficult or painful circumstances, but he’s fighting a losing battle because God is on your side.
God knows what we need before we know know we need it. And He’s already figured out the solution or necessary provision.
Teeny sips of Jesus, so to speak, might quench our thirst momentarily, but they’re not enough for the long haul. Drink deeply and find your thirst quenched.
The more we engage in unhealthy self-talk, the deeper we dig those ruts in our brain. Before long, we’ve trained our brain to think negatively.
What a great way to ensure our little ones understand the significance of what God has done for us and to keep it fresh in our minds as well.
Even though I wrote a book about moving beyond fear, I still struggle with it occasionally. Thankfully, it doesn’t consume or paralyze me anymore.
Prayer is first and foremost. But sometimes it’s not enough. God does His part, but He expects us to get involved and do ours, too.
My two-year-old grandson became frightened, he ran to me and climbed into my lap. There he felt safe because he knew I would protect him.
When we fail to connect the gift with the Giver, we basically take the credit for the good things we experience. But a thankful heart recognizes God’s goodness.
Busyness can rob us of the deeper life for which God created us. Let’s ensure that doesn’t happen by keeping our relationship with Him our top priority.
Comparing ourselves to others quickly traps us in an attitude of either inferiority or superiority. How then can we avoid falling into this trap?
Because conversation with the King reminds us that we’re completely dependent upon Him for everything–even our next breath. It helps us get to know Him.
The methods God uses to communicate with us are endless. We simply need ears to hear and a heart that’s willing to accept His answer.
The challenge to doing so lies in our hearts. That happens when we yield ourselves completely to Jesus Christ and allow His Spirit to fill and control us.
Today I’m donning my oxygen mask–praise. I’m not gasping for air anymore. Breathe in the Spirit’s presence. Breathe out anxiety. Oxygen flows.
Discouragement and fear affect different people in different ways. Regardless, God’s given us a weapon to break its grip. That weapon is praise.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change (James 1:17)
Christ invested His life in us. You know what that says? He considers us a treasure. He highly values us. He’d never consider us a cast-off.
Disclosing our struggles to a trusted godly friend can help ease the burden we carry. Knowing we’re not alone brings the encouragement needed to persevere.
How can we be intentional? Every time we catch ourselves thinking or saying something negative about our situation, let’s turn it around with a praise song
I routinely meet women who express fear for their family’s well-being. I’ve been there, done that. And I continue to face it even though my kids are now adults.
Why, oh why, would we withhold and try to do life our way when He’s clearly shown us how to have our heart’s desire fully satisfied?
The promise of His presence and power motivates me to obey. So does the threat of a negative outcome for disobedience. Either approach works for me!
I want to keep only the clothing that looks good on me, and that means being ruthless about the rest. What a great analogy to the spiritual aspect of life!
My behaving like a mother hen won’t ensure my loved ones’ happiness and safety. There comes a time when I must step aside and trust God with their lives.
It was Monday, and I was knee-high in packing boxes when I heard the knock on our door. It was our Sunday school teacher with roasted chicken and rubber gloves.
Yesterday my four-year-old grandson said: “God is BIG! He made the whole earth, and He can do anything because He is so strong! Nobody’s stronger than He is!”
Psalm 37:23 runs through my mind: “The steps of the godly are directed by the LORD. He delights in every detail of their lives.” Every detail. Even house paint.
Who would have guessed that God had such a surprise for us? Not I. Indeed, God is able to do more than we could ever ask or imagine. He just proved it again.
May God grant us spiritual eyes to see suffering through His eyes and to respond in a way that both draws us into deeper intimacy with Him and brings Him glory.
He often works through people–professional counselors and support providers–in the healing process, but ultimately, lasting victory comes from Jesus.
As long as we’re warm and breathing, we face challenges of every sort. If we focus on them, we soon convince ourselves that they’re too big for us to handle.
Jesus is the Vine. We are the branches. Maintaining a strong and vibrant connection with Him results in a fruitful life that brings much glory to God.
