God Speaks to Us Through Spiritual Hunger
Sometimes He speaks to me through a sermon or a song or someone else’s quotes, but the way He communicates with me each morning is different.
Spending time with God and listening to and reading His Words is often all we need in this chaotic world.
Sometimes He speaks to me through a sermon or a song or someone else’s quotes, but the way He communicates with me each morning is different.
How can we discern God’s voice amidst so many others crying for our attention? Here’s a litmus test that never fails: God’s voice speaks truth and life
God is always speaking to His children. May we never fall into a place where we don’t hear Him or where we say that we haven’t heard His voice for a long time.
Oh, how easy it is to focus on negative stuff: We regurgitate conversations that irked us. We worry about the “what-ifs.” We get stuck in “if-only.”
We pray and He listens. He never puts us on hold while He takes another person’s request. He never asks us to contact Him at a more convenient time.
The weekend that celebrates freedom and independence for both Canada and the United States comes after a horrific series of terrorist attacks around the world.
Everything flows from my friendship with the Lord. If I shelf His Word and my alone time with Him for a month, my spiritual well-being will take a hit.
My sinful nature sometimes urges me to yank my hand from His, but doing so would be foolish. I need to learn to rest in His care and attention to my well-being.
Knowing I’m on God’s mind gives me confidence to talk with Him about everything. More importantly, it makes me feel loved. Safe. Secure.
Folks, let’s admit our inability to figure out life on our own. Let’s humble ourselves before God. Let’s acknowledge our dependence upon Him.
How to stay focused on what matters most amidst the crazy busyness and messiness of family life. The inspiration: Live. Laugh. Love.
There’s no such thing as a “change of plans” if the Lord is the One determining our steps. An unexpected change of direction is a surprise to us, not Him.
Living by God’s truth and in His light ensures His blessing and power in our lives. I much prefer this to living in lies and darkness. I’m sure you do, too.
I want to live a powerful and fruitful life. Christ has given us everything we need to do this, but the key lies in staying connected to Him moment-by-moment.
Here’s a prayer from St. Patrick—the words calm my heart and help me focus on Christ. Take a few minutes to ponder them, and may they bless you in the same way.
Simple faith challenges North American Christianity. We read the Word and discover God’s promises, but then rationality questions how they can prove true.
By kneeling or bowing before Jesus, I acknowledge that He is worthy of honor and praise. I communicate to Him that I am unreservedly His servant.
My exposure to sheep is minimal at best, but even that’s taught me a few insights that have helped me better understand Jesus’s role as our Shepherd (Psalm 23)
Jesus lives in me. And He lives in you, too, if you’ve placed your faith in Him. Intimacy doesn’t get much better than that!
The people of Nazareth perceived Jesus as “just” a carpenter’s son. Why? Because they couldn’t naturally explain the source of His wisdom or supernatural power.
Isn’t that what true love is? Isn’t that what Christ demonstrated on the cross? He loved us before we ever loved Him, and His love cost for us cost Him dearly.
Greater intimacy with the Lord—the One who gave His all for me – is my goal. And that’s why I maintain spiritual disciplines.
God wants us to trust Him with our hearts and our intellect. May He grant us the ability to trust Him like a little child unquestioningly trusts.
One of my daily prayers is, “Jesus, make me aware of Your presence.” His answers never cease to amaze me, and reminds me He is very much involved with my life.
Regardless of how we feel about having honest conversations with God, the truth is that He wants to hold them with us. So, let’s do it.
We ought to wake every morning in awe that God has given us the gift of another day. We ought to go throughout our day in awe that He moves with us and in us.
We don’t like to think about our faith journey requiring sacrifice. We’d rather think about how it benefits us: forgiveness, answers to prayer, eternal life.
For each of the past five years or so, the Lord’s given me one special word on which to focus. Beyond a doubt, my word for 2016 is “great.”
In this crazy busy season, we sing about silent nights and calm. The irony is that we feel anything but calm and finding silence is nearly impossible.
God modeled true love by sacrificing His Son so we could be restored to relationship with Him and inherit eternal life. How do we measure up to His example?
As we think about giving this season, let’s remember that we don’t have to spend a small fortune on presents. Some of the best gifts are free.
Happiness is found when we do life God’s way. It gives us the strength to forgive, and to face our fears. It gives us peace in the midst of storms.
Even when emotions tell us that He is far away, the truth remains–He is with us. May this truth encourage you today, my friend.
I wish all my readers the ability to recognize the blessings they experience on daily and to express gratitude to the One from whom all blessings flow.
Giving thanks doesn’t come naturally to most people. That’s why God repeats His command over and over. He wants us to “get” it because He knows its value to us.
I grew up praying specifically so I could see God answer in specific ways. But perhaps my so-called specific prayers are my way of telling God what to do.
