Overcoming Fear in a Sometimes Scary World
I cling to the truth that no matter what happens to me, I’m a victor because God is the king of my life. No harm touches me unless He allows it.
When you’re feeling discouraged or need a boost of courage, God is there.
I cling to the truth that no matter what happens to me, I’m a victor because God is the king of my life. No harm touches me unless He allows it.
It’s Monday morning, and things aren’t going the way I’d planned. I’m writing this in the emergency room, sitting with my husband who was admitted 14 hours ago.
Consider difficulties as opportunities for joy? You betcha. Here are a few things I learned earlier this year about discovering joy in the midst of troubles.
We face an enemy who seeks to destroy us, but we can force him to retreat in defeat. We won’t do battle alone; God fights for us and with us.
Rather than walking in complete surrender to Jesus Christ, we often withhold things we hold near and dear. We’re afraid God will demand too much, and its cost.
Anxious for your kids’ well-being? Here are 10 prayers to acknowledge our dependency upon God and then bringing specific requests to Him on their behalf.
Seeking direction? God promises to give guidance, but there’s a prerequisite.
I feel afraid of shadows sometimes. They often come in the form of the “what-ifs. What shadows frighten you? Here’s reassurance to help overcome that fear.
What battle are you facing? Is it one that God has asked you to fight? Then He’ll burst through the enemy like a raging flood, and nothing will stop Him.
Whether in a big or small package, the power of encouragement cannot be overestimated. Let’s pass encouragement to someone today.
If negative nighttime thoughts trouble you, ask the Lord for the strength and ability to exchange them for these seven truths.
When faith-testers come your way, remember to trust the Lord to help you. Nothing can hinder Him. He can win the battle as you do whatever’s necessary.
Fear is rampant but it needn’t paralyze us. Here’s how we can move from fear to freedom.
Do we struggle with the same issues and wonder why we never gain victory over them? Perhaps we’re not doing something we ought.
Facing discouragement? Facing desperate circumstances? Be encouraged today. God knows the path through the deep waters. Trust Him.
Do people leave our conversations with them feeling encouraged or discouraged? Let’s determine that our conversations will inspire courage for those around us.
How can we say “Whatever” to God when the going gets tough? Read on to learn what I’ve discovered in the past days and weeks.
Feeling weak? I am. Here’s a personal story that will encourage you today.
Jesus says, “Come, follow me.” What does that mean?
When stuff happens, we decide how to respond. Our challenge is to maintain a God-honoring perspective.
I have no idea why God has allowed this to happen, but this one thing I know–He hears me when I cry for help and He will answer.
Life is full of uncertainties, but this we know–the Lord is always with us. No matter what life brings, He is right beside us.
I ask God for wisdom, for strength, and for courage. And He answers when I focus my thoughts on Him and His promises rather than on the stuff that unnerves me.
“I will be your God throughout your lifetime–until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”- God
When we’re in despair or feeling anxious, praise is actually therapeutic. It transforms our perspective because it sets our spiritual sights on God.
Not once does God’s Word say, “Figure it out on your own,” but many times He promises to direct our steps and show us the right path.

God doesn’t take a nap and then wake up to discover that–oh my goodness–something went terribly wrong on the earth while He rested His eyelids.
It helps us focus our spiritual eyes where they belong—on the almighty, all-wise, all-powerful God who presences Himself with His people at all times.
It amazes me how different people can look at the same situation and come away with completely different perspectives.
Humanly speaking, feeding 5,000 men and their families was an impossible task. But impossible tasks were Jesus’ specialty, and this event revealed His power.
As I ponder Peter’s words, I picture a little girl asking her daddy to twirl her “more and more.” She holds her arms up as she begs for “just one more swing.”
Our situation seems impossible, and we’re certain we’ll drown. But wait! What does God’s Word say about the Red Sea? Here are some encouraging words.
“Lay him on the floor,” instructed the 911 operator. Easier said than done. Gene was dead weight, plus he had two cracked ribs.
No one would have blamed David if he’d entertained questions and negative thoughts. But that’s not how he chose to respond.
When the enemy of discouragement tries to overtake me, I run to my hiding place–my faith in God–and find safety there. I cling to His promises to care for me.
